Use the UpShot espresso shot mirror with a bottomless portafilter to gain insights into your extraction, check for channeling, and whether your grind size is right.

The UpShot mirror is unique as it sits on the edge of the cup, bringing that mirror closer to your portafilter and giving you a better close-up look at the extraction. The UpShot mirror is made from ultra-thin tempered and edgeless glass and ships with an adhesive magnetic dot so that it can easily be magnetized to your espresso machine or near your coffee station.

FUN FACTS

EDGELESS

Even on a product this small, we don't skimp on the details and made sure the mirror is thin and the edges are clean.

ULTRATHIN

0.6mm thick durable tempered glass similar to what you might find as a screen protector on your smartphone.

MACRO

The UpShot stands tall on the edge of your cup, giving you a macro view of what you're focusing on: your extraction.

ALL IN THE DETAILS

  • EDGELESS GLASS

The ultra thin (0.7mm) glass on the Upshot creates a truly edgeless effect, a detail we find important on such a small product.

  • SLIGHT TINT

Tempering the glass gives it a nice slightly dark tint. Perfect to make your espresso shot even more cool.

  • PERFECTLY WEIGHTED

At 38 grams, the UpShot feels sturdy in your hand but light enough not to tip over the cup.

    Waste of money

Does not fit securely on cups (I've tried different types) and dark mirror does not reflect well. Sorry (I do like the dosing cup though.)

    A neat thing but...

This little mirror is well made from quality materials and it works great. Depending on what type of vessel you use, you might want to be careful to avoid the mirror tipping it over. The included mounting magnet is a great, thoughtful inclusion.

It’s a good idea, but the execution is falling short.

This product seems appealing at first glance, but it falls short in practice. Experienced home baristas understand that even the quietest espresso machines produce vibrations. Unfortunately, this product neither holds a cup securely nor maintains a balance as advertised. If you try to use it standing upright on a tray, much like the simplest mirrors on the market, you'll find that the plastic is defective and the foot design, which is claimed to be flexible, lacks the necessary stability. Adjusting the view angle is challenging as well.

After using it just 10 to 15 times, the feet have deteriorated to the point where it is no longer usable. Overall, I would not recommend purchasing this product due to its design flaws.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does it work on all cups?

Pretty much. From vertical walled cups to very shallow cup, even tiny espresso cups. The only time it may not work is if the cup has a tiny base, as it might try to tip the cup over.
