What is WDT and why do I need it?
WDT (Weiss Distribution Technique) involves stirring ground coffee in the portafilter basket with thin needles to break up clumps and distribute grounds evenly before tamping. This improves extraction consistency and is especially effective with light roast beans. The Flick automates the retraction of those needles via a magnetic mechanism for safe, clean storage.
What needle size does the Flick WDT come with?
The Flick ships with 0.5mm needles pre-installed, this thicker size is used intentionally to withstand shipping without bending. Inside the box, you'll also find two sets of 0.35mm replacement needles, which are thinner and preferred by most users for WDT. An Allen key for swapping needles is included too.

Behind the Flick
We created the Flick to solve one of the most overlooked problems in espresso making, inconsistent extraction caused by clumping in the coffee bed.
Most WDT tools felt awkward, fragile or overcomplicated, so we wanted to design something that was simple, super satisfying to use and beautifully engineered.

Yes, I used saviour...but maybe not for the reason(s) you're thinking. Of course, it does what I need it to do as part of my coffee workflow, like every other WDT I have owned in the past to be honest. However, what the Flick does that no other reasonably price WDT can do...drumroll...protect the needles from the prying fingers of my defiant children, and the curious who also happen to be selectively deaf.
Laugh, it's okay....but the pain is real, especially when trying to prepare a puck with WDT needles that have been continually bent at absurd angles. Sure, I could have simply placed the previous WDTs somewhere else, but c'mon...the display of one's setup is as much of an art form as the coffee preparation itself. So, stop being silly.
Plus, the Flick is much more robust than the previous WDTs I have owned, and it looks cool. When people ask what that is, I show them. And while that may not answer their question, I feel my exaggerated displays make me at a minimum, 1% cooler to those around me. I also like that you're only going to hold the Flick improperly once, before discharging the needles. The pain is no longer my pain, and it makes those who are defiant, curious, and selectively deaf...a little less across the board.

I'm really enjoying the Flick WDT tool. It's a simple and effective design that has nice vertical length which helps when doing wet WDT with my Pulsar brewer. It also stores away conveniently on my fridge with the included magnet which helps keep the countertop less cluttered with gear. Would recommend.
