SAFE FOR LIQUIDS
Go ahead and pull a shot of espresso right in the Subscale if you wish. It's a cup after all, so it will safely hold your precious liquid.
The cup is made of Tritan and rated to support liquids up to 100°C for two hours.
IPX-4 Splash Resistant
You can safely wash the Subscale under running water but do not submerge it.

I've always been a fan of Subminimal products, they are all very well made, perform exactly as described, reliable and last a very long time.
I was looking for a scale to measure my grinds and my espresso pulls, and I was lucky that the Subscale had just been released, and given the Subminimal brand, ordered it without much hesitation.
I have to say, this is the most impressive accessory I have in the kitchen, and quite simply, its amazing. The way the display lights up really surprises everyone I have showed to, and I find myself admiring the subtle simplicity and function.
And as impressive is the product, I also want to point out the Subminimal Support team is Absolutely Amazing. Extremely responsive and really the best support experience I've ever had - so thank you for both an amazing product and for having a support team that cares and understands.

The main selling point of the Subscale is it's simplistic and beautiful design and the magic digital display, however in every use-case it's marketed for there's impractical flaws.
- The Subscale is best for the purposes of bean dosing, the scale is responsive, works well on slightly uneven surfaces and accurate. It's water resistance alleviates any worry of water damage while RDTing as well and the auto-off function is great so I can just grind the beans and forget about fiddling with the Subscale. However, if you are dosing from a bag of coffee (you'd want to get it as close as possible to avoid spillage), the digital display is blocked as you pour beans into the Subscale, making it annoying to have to remove the bag everytime to check the weight.
- As an espresso vessel it's quite impractical, though it can replace a dedicated scale as you pull your shot into a vessel (noting that it's shape does let you watch your shot via a shot mirror better than a regular vessel), you would need one anyway if you are serving multiple guests. It's not a particularly pleasant vessel shape to drink out of and have the added downside of hand washing, at that point I'd simply rather use a normal cup. I own a DE-1 and I don't believe this currently syncs with a DE-1's bluetooth scale capability, so it isn't useful for that either, though it's a niche case.

We appreciate your insight on the display. Its unique vertical placement at the back was a deliberate choice to give you a clean, unobstructed weighing surface, which we believe offers a significant advantage over flat scales where the display is far more likely to be obstructed by a big bag of beans directly above the display.
We appreciate your feedback on using the Subscale as a drinking cup, a pourover stand, or with a carafe. While these are valid observations, the product was designed specifically for one primary function—dosing beans—and its form factor is optimized for that workflow alone.
